For more than 20 years, Church on the Street has been taking the Gospel to the people – and helping restore those who need a helping hand. There are thousands of people whose lives have been touched through this “Gospel in Action” outreach. Pastor Barnett has said that in many ways, Church on the Street was the prototype of the outreach in Southern California – that is now internationally known and copied: The Los Angeles Dream Center.
For most of that time, Church on the Street has not had a permanent home, but had to move from location to location. Then in late 2005, we secured a facility, a former Embassy Suites Hotel, just a short distance from downtown. Our congregation gave almost $2,000,000 towards the down payment and operation of “The Phoenix Dream Center – home to Church on the Street.” Today more than 200 people call this spiritual lighthouse “home.” We look forward to the day when we have the resources to be able to fully utilize this building, which can house over 600 residents.
A TIME TO REJOICE >> |
A LIFE RESTORED –
A SOUL RESCUED
I was once a drug addict. I used heroin, coke
and meth and whatever else I could get my
hands on. Because of my selfishness I lost my
children who went to live with their father in
Texas. I ended up in prison, and then I was
paroled to the Dream Center where I met the
Lord, and I’ve been here ever since.
My
prayers are being answered left and right! My
desire to use drugs has completely left me, and
I love the Lord very much! I can now walk
proudly, head held high, rejoicing in the fact
that I’m a Christian – a daughter of the Most
High – joint heir to the Throne of Grace. My
children will be returned to me soon! I will be
blessed because I am highly favored by my
Father in Heaven!
